Moonage Daydream

        Written, directed, produced and edited by Brett Morgen, this new film about David Bowie is less of a documentary and more of an experience. 

         In a style that Mr. Bowie would have appreciated, the film is a visual and aural feast. A mixture of concert footage, interviews, behind the scenes footage, lightshow and images of Mr. Bowie's influences all combine in a kaleidoscope of sound and color. There is no traditional path, yet the film does trace Mr. Bowie's life through interspersed images and voice-over supplied only by Mr. Bowie. The lightshow images throughout are fascinating, odd and fun, however, they do start to become repetitive throughout the journey.

        The music, of course, is fantastic and the concert footage really fun, especially in the very early days of Mr. Bowie's development of his stage personas.  His personal insights bring the viewer a little bit closer to knowing the man behind the image but David Bowie will always remain somewhat of an enigma. 

        This experience is best viewed in IMAX and really meant for fans. Gone too soon, at least Bowie's music will live on forever.
